We are seeking a motivated Junior Trader to join our cotton trading team.  This role supports the Senior Trader and cotton desk operations, providing exposure to global commodity markets while developing the skills to progress into a full trading position. You will contribute to market analysis, trade execution, and logistics coordination while building strong stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Support Senior Trader with daily market activities, trade execution, and data entry.
  • Monitor and report grower sentiment, pricing trends, and market developments.
  • Assist in understanding container and bulk export pathways, freight rates, and arbitrage opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records, including trade entries and daily P&L tracking.
  • Liaise with supply chain stakeholders to optimise export options.
  • Participate in team and global market meetings.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary degree in Economics, Finance, Science, Agricultural Economics, or related discipline.
  • Knowledge or experience in commodity trading, export logistics, or market analysis (desirable).
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and Power BI
  • Strong IT skills with the ability to learn new systems quickly
  • Basic knowledge of statistics with a keen interest in developing analytical skills
