Qingdao, China, June 26, 2025 – Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) celebrated today the groundbreaking for the construction of a new Food Technology Park in Dongjiakou, Qingdao, Shandong Province, China, in line with the Group’s strategic plans to strengthen its core merchandizing capabilities while expanding its value chain downstream.
“Qingdao Food Technology Park is another significant development in LDC’s growth journey in the country and underlines the Group’s long-term commitment to the Chinese market, where we have been active for over 50 years,” said Jerrity Chen, Head of North Asia at LDC. “With this project, we further deepen our local presence and support for the transformation and growth of China’s agri-food industry, helping to build a safe, resilient and sustainable supply chains.”
Operations at the future facility will include oilseeds crushing, processing of specialty feed proteins and products, as well as production of food-grade lecithin. Upon completion of the construction works celebrated today, expected in 2027, the site will cover 153,000m2 of land and have capacity to produce 1.5 million tons of feed protein, 370,000 tons of refined oil and 15,000 tons of lecithin annually. It is expected to generate some 200 jobs.
Located within Qingdao’s Dongjiakou Economic Zone, the park will benefit from world-class, deep-water port connection to over 700 ports across some 180 countries, as well as advanced warehousing infrastructure and logistics networks, which have positioned the zone as a key hub for bulk commodity trading and processing in the region.
“Shandong province, as China’s leading agricultural region with a 2024 annual output of RMB 1.28 trillion from farming, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, is a strategic location for the new park, which will serve as an important industrial base for LDC, from which to supply East China and broader Northeast Asia markets with high-quality, value-added products and solutions for food and feed customers,” added Jerrity Chen, LDC’s Head of North Asia.
