On the occasion of LDC’s 170th anniversary, we cooperated with the China Environmental Protection Foundation to launch the “Sprint for Soil” campaign, aiming to build a Northeast Black Soil Protection Demonstration Base in Jilin Province.
As one of the four largest black soil regions in the world, the Northeast Plain is considered as China’s “Golden Corn Belt” and the “Soybeans Land”. However, due to excessive farming, the black soil is facing problems such as thinning soil layer and deterioration in quality. Therefore, it is an urgent task to protect the black soil and utilize precious black soil resources sustainably.
Sustainability has always been one of the core priorities of LDC’s businesses. In cooperation with our partners, we are committed to ensuring the effective use of resources and the protection of biodiversity. On the occasion of LDC’s 170th anniversary, we cooperated with the China Environmental Protection Foundation to launch the “Sprint for Soil” campaign, a project to protect the black soil in Northeast China. Under technical guidance provided by the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, our goal is to build a 170-mu Northeast Black Soil Protection Demonstration Base in Yanbian, Jilin Province, to raise awareness among more than 6000 farmers from 20 villages for importance of black soil protection and call for actions, affecting more than 200,000 mu of black soil.
At the same time, we also initiated an activity to mobilize our colleagues, their family and friends, and our partners, to complete 6000 steps per day walking challenge to support the “Sprint for Soil” campaign.
To protect the black soil and promote sustainable development, LDC is in action!
