Overall Purpose and Objective of Position

Coordinate activities of workers engaged in receiving, shipping, weighing and storage of cotton, as well as the cleaning and maintenance of industrial buildings and grounds.  Direct employees, carrying out responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.  Scan bales to ensure accurate and efficient work procedures and data exchange utilizing tablets and scanners.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Inspect work areas to determine type of work required and materials and equipment to be used.
  • Direct workers in projects such as receiving, weighing, storage and shipping of cotton.
  • Study production schedules, estimate worker hour requirements, interpret Company policy to workers, enforces safety regulations, assign duties and establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Recommend improvements in production methods, suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment, analyze and resolve work problems.
  • Maintain time and productions records.
  • Confer with supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Operate lift truck.
  • Scan bales to ensure accurate and efficient work procedures and data exchange utilizing tablets and scanners.
  • Perform all related responsibilities as required.

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience

One to three years related experience and/or training.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Lift truck experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, write routine reports and correspondence, speak effectively before groups of supervisors or employees, and apply common sense and problem solving.
  • Job requirements include standing, walking, sitting, use of hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools or controls.    Must be able to reach with hands and arms; climb balance, stoop, kneel crouch and crawl.  Also have the ability to speak and hear.
  • Required to regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities are required.  These include good close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision.  Good depth perception and the ability to focus are necessary.

Typical office equipment: PC, telephone, fax machine, tablet, scanners, forklift 

Working Conditions

Some duties are performed in outside weather conditions, working frequently near moving mechanical parts.  Occasional work done in high, precarious places and could be exposed to fumes and cotton dust.

No supervisory responsibilities.
