  • Oversee fixed asset reporting including reconciliation of fixed asset module to G/L, monthly depreciation entries and fixed asset additions / CIP projects.
  • Maintain COGS and inventory related to chemicals/ingredients at the operations facility including balance sheet reconciliations and communications with facility supervisors.
  • Prepare and enter journal entries and accruals to general ledger accounts with source documents on a monthly basis.
  • Complete daily estimate calculations for various trade activities.
  • Reconciliation between accounting actuals and daily estimates on a monthly basis.
  • Complete all monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Reconcile various accounts: reviews general ledger against source documents to identify discrepancies and communicates with other LDC offices, LDC personnel or outside counterparties to resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare financial statements for multiple LD Company subsidiaries using Magnitude web-based database.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analysis as part of the financial statement preparation.
  • Support the year-end and mid-year audits performed by external auditors by gathering and preparing supporting documents and schedules per their information requests.
  • Prepare and analyze budgets by working with facility supervisors and other groups within LDC.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Addresses special requests/projects, such as performing additional analyses of financial data and preparing adhoc reports.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

The following are the basic qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in accounting.

The following is the preferred qualification: Advanced degree or CPA Certification. 

 

Experience

The following are the basic qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 2+ years of general accounting experience  

The following is the preferred qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and three to five years of general accounting experience, resulting in a solid understanding of accrual accounting, general ledger practices and GAAP compliance (experience must include responsibility for a wide variety of general accounting functions, including analyzing complex general ledger accounts, reconciling discrepancies, analyzing payables and resolving discrepancies in order to prepare financial and management reports.)
  • Experience leading or supervising one or more individuals in a work environment.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

The following are the basic qualifications:

  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting practices and GAAP
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing software, (e.g., Excel and MS Word).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze account variances and resolve discrepancies
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict monthly deadlines
  • Detail oriented

 

Working Conditions

  • Typical climate-controlled office environment. Extensions of regular working hours are occasionally necessary to complete time- sensitive projects, attend training or to respond to emergencies. Provides any other assistance as directed by supervisor; prioritize personal workload throughout the day to ensure meeting of strict deadlines.

 

Decision Making/Accountability

  • Utilizes knowledge of accounting and increasing knowledge of our accounts and systems to identify errors, omissions and discrepancies. Handles challenging and/or high-volume accounts. Determines whether to make accruals or adjustments. Identifies sources of discrepancies and resolves with other LD offices or outside counterparties. Makes recommendations based on analysis. Ensures proper cost allocations and that proper approval are obtained for payments. Prioritizes workload throughout the month to ensure meeting of deadlines. Requires maintaining strict confidentiality of proprietary financial information.
