Shanghai, China, November 10, 2021 – Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) joined its fourth China International Import Exhibition (CIIE) in Shanghai, signing cooperation agreements with Chinese partners to continue to bring high quality products to customers in the country. The company also launched new products under its B2C ‘Mastergold’ cooking oil range.
Celebrating its 170th anniversary, rich heritage and vision to work toward a safe and sustainable future, LDC’s enlarged booth this year featured the company’s LDC Galleries virtual museum, new technologies such as LDC’s Trace platform offering product traceability, and a diverse product range showcase and sample tasting.
In particular, LDC launched its new 200ml Mastergold-branded products covering nine types of edible oils, including grape seed, safflower seed, perilla seed and others, to meet Chinese consumers’ growing demand for refined, diverse and nutritious cooking oils. LDC also signed further cooperation agreements during CIIE with several Chinese partners, including COFCO, Sinograin, China SDIC Trade, C&D and Wumart, for the import of grains, oilseeds, cotton, coffee and sugar, and the sale of packaged oils.
“LDC is going beyond its traditional role as a global merchant and processor of agricultural goods, to embrace more of the food and agricultural value chain, and China is a key region for LDC’s global strategic development in this sense. CIIE provides an important platform for cooperation and exchanges as we look to further invest in the Chinese market and has played an important role in strengthening our relationship with partners in the country,” said James Zhou, LDC’s Chief Commercial Officer and Head of Asia.
LDC also took part in various key forums at CIIE, including the Global Agricultural Trade and Rural Revitalization Sub-Forum to the Hongqiao International Economic Forum, sharing insights into developments and trends in agricultural trade, food production and consumption, and other fields with participants, including business partners, experts and other industry stakeholders.
Participating remotely in the China Europe CEO Summit hosted by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), one of several high-level events organized in the context of CIIE, LDC’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Gelchie, said: “LDC is both a beneficiary and champion of China’s reform, opening-up and efforts to promote globalization, and we believe that multilateral and multinational cooperation between companies will create shared value and lead to win-win results. CIIE has been a key platform for open dialogue and trade cooperation.” LDC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ICBC during the summit for continued cooperation in financing, derivatives and other areas.
“As an ‘old friend’ of CIIE, this year we not only showcased our products and signed further cooperation agreements with Chinese partners. We were also honored to be invited to share our experience and perspective with industry stakeholders and business partners,” said Jerrity Chen, LDC’s Head of North Asia and Head of Grains & Oilseeds for the Region. “We will continue to explore opportunities for investment in and growth with China, building even closer ties with our partners, seeking shared benefits, and aiming to create fair and sustainable value for current and future generations.”
