Exceptional Results
2021 was an exceptional year for the Freight Platform, with a 20% increase in volumes transported and the best financial results on record. The Platform successfully navigated historic volatility, overcoming logistics bottlenecks by relying on its proprietary analytical edge and innovative operational model.
Increased Efficiency
We continued to broaden employment of our chartered fleet, enhancing cross-ocean strategic geo-positioning. We also further integrated decision-making tools for itinerary optimization and engine efficiency measurement, in collaboration with shipowners.
Expanded Footprint
We expanded our footprint into new market segments with particularly strong growth in cargo volumes, especially in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. We serviced customers with a growing modern fleet, notably through new geared vessel designs.

As leading global charterers, we are committed to safeguarding the welfare of workers at sea, recognizing that a fair, safe and healthy workplace for this essential workforce is a pre-requisite for the successful transformation of the shipping industry. In this area, as in others, we believe that transparency and collaboration through multi-stakeholder platforms is the key to lasting positive change.”

Enriched our proprietary automatic identification system (AIS) signals with predictive tools while relying on LDC’s fundamental research, thus enabling timely, informed decision-making and more acute risk management.
Alongside more than 150 organizations representing the entire maritime value chain, we signed a formal Call to Action for Shipping Decarbonization.
Worked with the Sustainable Shipping Initiative and the Institute for Human Rights and Business to develop and actively launch a seafarers’ Code of Conduct, a tool to help maritime industry players ensure responsible shipping operations.
Commissioned an independent study on performance evaluation of four wind-assisted ship propulsion technologies.
