Investing Downstream
As part of LDC’s strategy to embrace more of the value chain, the Platform signed a joint venture agreement to build and operate a freeze-dried instant coffee plant in Vietnam, to enlarge our product offering and address growing instant coffee demand.

More Coffee Highlights
Expanded the Platform’s global sustainability team by five people, taking the number to over 40 employees, and scaling up our ability to drive forward our coffee sustainability roadmap and provide sustainability solutions to industry partners.
Rolled out our revised Code of Conduct for Coffee Suppliers, whereby partners commit to both maintain and continuously improve on a comprehensive set of social and environmental criteria. Of global volumes, 17% are certified as responsibly sourced.
Successfully completed proof of concept project in Colombia with a new traceability solution provider and initiated a global business rollout.
Invested in operational enhancements at key assets: for example, we upgraded our processing line in Villanueva, Honduras, increased inbound capacity in Varginha, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, and installed a solar panel power plant at our El Cofre Plant in Veracruz, Mexico.
Developed origin presence in key producing countries with strong supplier partnerships and grew our customer base in all destination markets with an expanded quality offering.
Piloted our own Responsibly Sourced Program with an independent auditing agency, and conducted the first successful test audits on Brazilian and Mexican supply chains.
Signed a joint venture agreement with specialty coffee merchants Zephyr Japan, positioning LDC to increase premium coffee flows into Japan and East Asian markets.
