Resilient Performance
The Platform faced significant challenges in 2022, with wheat and corn business lines impacted by the Russia-Ukraine crisis, government export interventions on palm oil in Indonesia and wheat in India, the new forex system for farmers in Argentina, and the energy crisis in the EU. In this context, we leveraged our diversified global footprint to secure good performance across all product lines.
Processing Success
Our processing activities contributed significantly to the Platform’s positive performance, with strong crush, biodiesel and refining margins, particularly in North America, as well as improved crush margins in China.
Advancing Soy Sustainability in Argentina
In line with our commitment to eliminate deforestation for agricultural purposes from all our supply chains by the end of 2025, 85% of the 2021/2022 campaign soy processed at our General Lagos agro-industrial complex in Argentina was certified as sourced from land not cleared after 2008, in accordance with 2BSVs and EPA requirements. This marks an 8% increase year on year.
Fernando Correa Urquiza
Regional Head of Oilseeds for South & West Latin America
“With over three-quarters of soy received and processed in General Lagos certified as sustainably produced, LDC is a national leader in sustainable soy origination, and we are confident that we will rise to the challenge to increase this proportion even further, as part of our commitments to drive more responsible production, both in Argentina and globally.”
